Flaming Gorge
We went to Flaming Gorge for the 4th of July. The kids had a really good time. We stayed at Camperworld, which as we all know, isn't real camping. However, we did stay in a tent and eat outdoors, so it was close enough. The hot showers were very nice. The first day, we drove 3.75 hours to get there. It went very smoothly since we were listening to Superfudge, a book on tape. The boys loved it. We set up our things when we arrived; we stayed in Uncle Scott's tent. Our tent is in storage. We played games and ate for the rest of the night. We didn't do much to celebrate the 4th- no fireworks allowed.
The next day, we visited the John Jarvie farm, where Butch Cassidy used to hide out. I consider it a geneology trip. It was interesting, but very hot. We drove on dirt roads to get there and I thought the van might shake apart. Scott drove after that, since he wanted to go more than 20mph. We drove into Vernal, ate at Wingers, went to Walmart (of course), and then went back to camp. Ashley and I were in charge or cooking Barbeque beef sandwiches and it was time to make them. I went to bed early that night to recover from all the junk I had eaten during the day. The boys are very good about going to sleep and they sleep all night, except Tyler.
The third day was the most enjoyable because it involved water and wave runners. We stayed at Flaming Gorge for most of the day. The boys, especially Austin, loved the wave runners and wanted to spend a lot of time on them. They also played in Scott's big tube in the shallow end. We got a little sunburned in a few places, but nothing bad.
The last day, we loaded up and left. I was anxious to get home before early afternoon; I get very sleeping driving then. We made it home in about 4.25 hours and went straight to Katie's to help her unpack. Can you believe I drove all that way by myself? I don't think that has every happened before.
